After weeks of work, big surf, storms, and too much poop in the water we finally got out today. After some morning meetings we headed down to Linda Mar for a late afternoon surf. It was in the upper 50’s and sunny when we got to the beach. The tide had just bottomed out and was starting to head up again, so the conditions were less than ideal. Still, the waves were starting to look pretty good with several nice corners and, as a bonus the wind light.
The conditions got better over the course of the session and, while I got denied Emily got a nice ride right as we were going in. When we got to Linda Mar there were only 3 other surfers in the water. By the time we left there was 30. It was nice to get out again! The weather over the next week looks pretty good and, we’re hoping to get out several times in the next few days. Woot!

Surfline surf report for today – Winds remain light/variable onshore this afternoon allowing for a continued clean-up across the region. NW-WNW swell peaked this morning, and will slowly start to fade, as some small SSW swell mixes in. Better breaks have head high+ surf, with 2-3-4′ overhead sets for the top NW exposures. Things are still a little crossed-up, but have improved further since this morning, with some fun corners in the mix if you have the patience.
Pre surf food –Split pea soup.

Hi, I'm Max and The Nalu is my personal surf journal. I surf breaks in Northern California several times a week with my wife Emily. Nalu is the Hawaiian word for wave which is why my journal is named The Nalu.
